Vedic Vidya Institute continues to operate as a non-profit 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt educational organization. Like other organizations of this type, the Institute runs fee-based programs to cover its administrative cost, looks to financial donors to fund special projects, and counts on the generous support of volunteers to fulfill its mission. Most any experienced administrator of a non-profit institution will tell you, budgets get strained and workloads become heavy without volunteers to lend a willing hand. In short, consistently helpful volunteers are heaven sent!
Brilla Hall is such a volunteer. For the second year in a row, congratulations and a heartfelt thank-you go to Brilla, Vedic Vidya Institute's 2005 AND 2006 Volunteer of the Year. Not only did she voluntarily assist in the Institute's Sanskrit program throughout 2006, she spent countless hours creating useful curriculum material and revising existing Sanskrit translation aids. And no job is too big or small for Brilla. She's always willing to roll up her sleeves to help with cleaning chores. Brilla also supports the Institute as kind friend, earnest student, and financial donor.
Other volunteers merit formal recognition as well. Honorable mention goes to Scott Roos for teaching the Yoga Sutra chanting classes, Anuja Durve and Christina Werthe for helping with various office duties, and Christina Werthe again for nurturing classroom plants when the Institute closes for breaks. Other volunteers were heaven sent; they undertook errands, cleaning, maintenance, flower gifts, healthy snacks, and endless other things.
During the past year again Board members, administrators, and teachers gave of their time and services without remuneration for many events. Generous monetary grants and donations have continued to flow in 2006, funding the Institute's plans for promoting Vedic knowledge.
So, thanks and thanks again to our heaven-sent volunteers! Involvement of donors and volunteers remains vital to the Institute's success as a non-profit educational institution.
We look forward to your generous support in 2007.
